Beth Recce 2006-03-15 22:04:41 i took a trip with some friends to island lake lodge a couple of years ago. Aidan was our tail guide. one of them recently sent us an e-mail with word of the tragedy on january 14th. he sent us links to this page as well as articles about the accident.
my friend wrote "I am sure you all remember her for her enthusiasm and smile. This is truly a tragedy. I did a google search and found numerous links to her adventures. From what it sounds like, she lived quite the exciting life and touched a lot of people. We were fortunate to have met her."
even though we met Aidan once, a few years ago, she has remained with me as she struck me as a remarkable individual whom i admired for her enthusiasm for life and her seemingly special insight on how to live it.
i am deeply saddened by this news but also find myself just angry at no one in particular. i am angry that life allows instances where someone as special as Aidan was taken from us. She was a remarkably exceptional person and she will be sorely missed.
to Aidan’s family, i am so very sorry for your loss. thank you for setting up this web site. my thoughts are with you.

wendy atkin 2006-03-20 15:56:36 Dear Mab and Family:
I just opened my new MEC catalogue and saw the news about Aidan. My heart goes out to you and Colin and Rowan. When you opened your home to me overnight about 9 years ago when I was working at CCAAC, the thing that struck me the most was the incredible spirit of your daughters, and the wonderful Aidan who cooked this shy stranger from Ottawa a beautiful meal, and I remained awestruck by the wide wings and spirit that you had given your children. This has remained an inspiration for me. This email is very inadequate and I will write more by snail... but wanted to let you know right away that I carry a small memory of your daughter that I will share with my friends and loved ones as inspiration.
With great affection and condolences,
WENDY ATKIN

michael spagnut 2006-04-29 18:34:26 aidan,
i knew you only as a gifted climber from the cliffhanger. despite only my having just a few casual conversations at gym, i got the impression you were someone very special.
your candle burns brightly...
