Kasia Noworyta-Fridman 2006-02-04 12:35:06 Dear Aidan:
Many years have passed since I met you, but you have left a very special mark in my life. When I came to Canada, your family was the first one to help me in the new country, and I had the privilege of babysitting you and your sister, two lovely girls who played freely in the backyard, laughed a lot, corrected my English and even showed me some fruits I had never seen. Your love for mountains was quite apparent already; I still remember being amazed by your family’s stories about hiking and thinking “Wow, in Canada you can book trails?” I also remember sitting on your wooden patio, watching you play and thinking “What a beautiful girl, inside and outside! If I ever have a daughter, I will name her Aidan, and I hope she will have the same amazing spirit.”
Years later, my 14-year old daughter Aidan looks at the picture of the young woman she was named after. It is a picture cut out of “Calgary Herald” where we read the terrible news. I compare the faces of the two Aidans and… there is definitely something there… I read that you loved theatre; my Aidan does, too. Although she does not climb mountains, she is an accomplished martial artist, and I hope that she will have your strength and enegy to inspire others.
At this difficult time, I hope that your family and friends will draw strength from all the positive memories and the impact your presence made in their lives.
Warmest hugs to Mab, Colin and Rowan,
Kasia Noworyta-Fridman
Chris Rogers 2006-02-06 08:06:08 We emerged from of our tent on a soggy Labour Day weekend to be greeted by our climbing instructor, Aidan. And, instantly, things started to look up. She had that kind of personality, one that could banish the cold and wet. For the next two days she gave us her undivided attention, even though she was leaving for China at the end of the week. We learned so much from her, and will be thinking of her whenever we climb.

Kristen Gorman 2006-02-10 14:31:34 Although I only knew Aidan for a short time, this past fall while renting the upstairs flat in Squamish from Aidan and Sean, I can say Aidan was truely a vibrant woman. I admired her for her infectious enthusiasm, her strength, and her relaxed nature. I looked up to her as a strong woman climber and skiier.
Aidan, I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful and important example your life is to other wilderness women. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Kristen
